MEDITATION
Body, Mind and Soul

Meditation rejuvenates ones energy level and zeal, so you can feel enlightened, far from the metaphysical world. A meditation course in Lumbini or in Kathmandu will help you explore in-depth and find a new human within you. There are specialized centers offering meditation course, accommodation, and food.

Once the home of the astrologer to the King of Nepal, Kopan is a now a thriving monastery of over 300 monks, and a spiritual oasis for hundreds of visitors yearly from around the world.

Each year in November, up to 200 students from around the world travel to Kopan monastery for one month of meditation and insight into the Dharma.

Regular 10 day introductory courses are held in February, March, April, May, June, then again in September and October. The courses give an introduction to Tibetan Buddhism, and meditation skills and include a short Lam Rim retreat. The courses are led by Ani Karin, a senior Western nun, with daily teachings from a Tibetan Lama. The daily schedule consists of sessions of meditation, teachings and daily discussions groups. The course leader as well as the Tibetan Lamas of the monastery are available for personal guidance.

Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation. It was rediscovered by Gautam Buddha more than 2500 years ago and was taught by him as a universal remedy for universal ills. This non-sectarian technique aims for the total eradication of mental impurities and the resultant highest happiness of full liberation. Healing, not merely the curing of diseases, but the essential healing of human suffering, is its purpose.

Vipassana is a way of self-transformation through self-observation. It focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body, which can be experienced directly by disciplined attention to the physical sensations that form the life of the body, and that continuously interconnect and condition the life of the mind. It is this observationbased, self-exploratory journey to the common root of mind and body that dissolves mental impurity, resulting in a balanced mind full of love and compassion.

Ten day initial course is beneficial to take further step in this kind of meditation. It takes place at Nepal Vipassana Centre at Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu throughout the year.

Osho Tapoban is located at the outskirts of Kathmandu valley on the way to Kakani, amidst the Himalayan forest where Nagarjuna, the eminent exponent of Buddhist philosophy meditated for 30 years and attained ultimate enlightenment. It provides physical as well as mental relief from all strains of life. Tapoban also organizes meditation camps of one, three or seven days at Tapoban or at other places in Nepal.

Yoga classes will contribute to the development of a healthy body, a healthy mind, and healthy thought. It also helps one achieve balanced, harmonious and integrated development of all the aspects of their personalities. Yoga is a pathway to true, happy, and healthy living. Yogic training eventually prepares one for spiritual awakening, the supreme aim of human life.

Ayurveda dates back to the Vedic period. Vedas are the oldest recorded documents of human civilization. Ayurveda, the life science, is also the oldest authentically recorded science in existence today. Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word, when translated means "the science of life" or "a natural way of living".

The objective of Ayurveda is to achieve the highest goal of life, the inner and outer dynamic harmony. The dimensions of health are defined as bodily, sensorial, mental, and spiritual health. Traditional and indigenous knowledge has been used for centuries by indigenous and local communities under local laws, customs and traditions. Fundamentally, they follow the Ayurvedic, ethno-botanical, ethnotraditional, tantrik, spiritual and Amchi knowledge. As described in Ayurveda, the Himalayan herbs and medicinal plants are used for healthy body and happy mind. These are used in different forms such as toiletries and cosmetics, incense and aromatic substances, health promoting agents, supplements and medicines, natural manures, pesticides, environmental cleaning and protection, food, food additives and drinks, etc.
